Default Streaming with Elgato Game Capture HD - Performance drops?

I received my Elgato a few days a go and have been playing around with it since to try and get a good quality stream. One of the biggest problems I have encountered is a performance decrease on my computer.

I can play Battlefield 4 on Ultra settings at 70+ FPS with my current graphics card (AMD HD 7990) yet whenever i use my Elgao to capture my gameplay my performance will decrease to about 30 FPS which is unplayable in my opinion.

I have been using the Game Capture HD software to try streaming and i have tried using OBS aswell. Using OBS i get an even worse performance decrease. (I would like to be able to use OBS for the overlays)

I've tried to capture in 720p and 1080p with not too much luck. I have a fibre optic connection so my internet speed should not be a problem. (Speedtest.net by Ookla - My Results)

Here are my computer specs, sorry for the long list
