turn it on, the start to scratch the motherboard with a sharp object until something bad happens.

4 years ago i had an old desktop PC that i turned on and then switched the power supply from 230V to 110V by moving that volt mode switch on the back of the PSU with a screwdriver.
That was fun. it sounded kinda like a stungun. The mobo and PSU fried.

I'll have to try that one..

Ok, I'll try my best to be serious here.

When I upgrade, I do it partially for parts that need to be upgraded. I never get a new computer as a whole. I believe this is what all of you do, don't you?... or do you?!?!?

My current system has 6 HDD's 5 of them are of 500GB. I have more around but there is no space left in the case.

So, left over parts get piled over time and when complete collection is there I build a computer with it. Well maybe I buy some parts to complete the collection.

Right now there is a old Core 2 Duo computer with windows XP and an old sound card all to support old MS Sidewinder gamepad. The best controller for old systems' emulators and arcade fighting games like old Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. I'll try to post a screenshot for it when I get home.

I used to sell old parts, but now that I use its every single drop if usefulness, they get really old and worth nothing. Heck, I can probably sell whole systems when they are built even if they are old. Gonna be plug and play at least.

As for the silly part, flying saucers any one?

I do the same as you Smart_Guy, I never sell old parts or complete machines. I have 3 machines I've gathered and rebuilt. I consider Core 2 Duo machines to still good but some people may think they are now from the stone ages..
