There's a rule in taking picture that you don't put the object in the center, but in one of the lines (Fujifilm cameras has them).

Also, what I am doing wrong is because the dock is too much shaking, I miss it and I take pictures with more sky than land/water.

It's the rule of thirds. Any photograpy [hopefully] knows about it
