Car Thread!

I wouldn't ever consider owning a minivan.
I agree, my mom has one, and we always take it on vacations and whatnot. It sucks, I would much rather take the subaru outback. The van is terrible to drive, and I usually end up doing 70% of the driving. I drive like 5mph faster and over 16 hours, that can save about an hour, lol. Plus I just like to drive, but that minivan sucks... I didn't have a problem driving my dads outback to South Dakota for 12 hours straight, but couldn't have done it in the van...

My mom had one for a while, we got rid of it before I ever had a chance to drive it. She drives an 01 Durango now, she likes it much better, and so do I.

Much more macho...lol, I hate the engine in the van too. My mom thinks it's fast since the dif gears must be like 3:73 or something similar, and the first gear on it is really high as well. So she thinks it's faster then my truck. It is faster from like 0-20, because it gets a lot more traction, and has that high gearing. The engine is a high revver too. I don't like that much, I like low-end power.

Taller gears for mileage most likely. That's how my car is, 3.55 final for a 4 cylinder is pretty tall. first goes to 30, 2nd 60, 3rd 90, and 4th hits the governer at 120 so I don't know what 4th redlines at.

ive never understood minivans and station wagons...and now these crossover things. Im glad the auto indusrty is about to cave, maybe they will rethink their product.
BTW Ford is doing the best of the big 3..ohhh yeah.

I personally refuse to buy anything newer than 97 now. Anything after that is a waste of money IMO, no cheap used parts, little aftermarket factory replacement parts, stupidly huge loan payments that offset all MPG increases.
Put it this way, I could buy a 94 accord and have a sea of wrecker and salvage parts at my disposal, get 30mpg and have $0/month payments. Whereas I could buy a 2009 accord, have next to no salvageable parts, get 40mpg and pay $500 a month.

Dont get me started on the "smart car", there is nothing smart about it at all.
