Did a system recovery, now I don't have Java. Tried, but it won't go through. Should I get the latest version, or an earlier one?

You want the latest one, that's java 6 update 14 at the time of writing. You say it doesn't go through - at what point does it actually fail and with what error? |

When I try to download it, there is a pop up that reads; error 25099 unzipping core files failed.

Have you tried downloading it again? Sounds like the file might be corrupted. You can also try downloading it here if it helps at all:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp select JRE 6 update 14 (unless you want to develop in Java, in which case you need JDK 6 update 14.) |
