problem in tables in javascript

hi,
in my js my table data and table headers are in different divs.
as i need to make the table scrollable in both directions.
So i need to specify the width exclusively for both the tables seperately.so that the dat and heading match.The problem is my data in the table is dynamic.Sometime the data is very long.and automatically the table data cell size increases.and due to this my table headings and data do not match.they have different borders.
havin lot of problem.Can anyone suggest a method for this.
So that both of them have same width however the table data changes.
Its urgent.all Suggestions are welcome.

Have you tried setting your table heading width to cover 'x' columns?
