i wasnt sure where about this would go so i put it here. i have windows xp service pack 2 and when i go on some web sites such as macromedia flash and go to download flash player a little red x appears where the bar for the download should be on the site, i have the latest java by the way. could anyone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it, also items such as the adverts at the side of msn hope page do not show.
this is what i was on about, but in the box there will be be a red cross

When Windows XP asks you in a little dialog that pops up, choose install, if you choose don't install, nothing would appear except a red X in a box, that is because you have denied it the permission to install ...
 
it doesnt come up with anything like do you want to download or install, just that appears and no messages
 
Check your Windows Firewall and Internet security settings; they may be set to auto-block content without your say-so.
