I used to have Windows 8.1 on my PC but, some months ago I upgraded this to Windows 10 via the freebie option.

I am now wondering if I can put this 8.1 version onto my laptop without contravening any licensing rules.

Does anyone know the answer to this please.

Many thanks.

Even though you have upgraded the license to the Windows 10 OS, it's still one license tied to a single machine.

Hello crazyman143, thank you for coming in on this. My laptop is currently running Windows 7, would it be possible and beneficial for me to upgrade this to Windows 10? Is the free upgrade available to Windows 7 users?

Yeah, if you have a valid windows 7 licens, you can upgrade it to windows 10.
And yes, i recommend doing that. You have until 29th of July.

I see it beneficial to upgrade to Windows 10 if you multitask and like to have programs opened side-by-side which has been improved a lot in Windows 10 and its worth taking up the free upgrade if the folks at Microsoft decide not to extend the offer.
