I am having trouble connecting to my home computer via vpn. Using xp's vpn connection on a remote computer, I entered in all the correct user credentials but I get a dialog saying that windows couldnt connect with the credemtials i entered (error 691).

On my home computer, I have Windows server 2003 standard SP1. I enabled routing and remote access services and granted access to any user group, security protocol, tunnel mode, etc. but it still refused to accept my user credentials. Any ideas? Also, on my home computer, I only have one network card-Is it required to have two network cards to make the VPN work?

EDIT: Also, my home computer is a domain controller with Active Directory and group policies enabled

i think u need vpn software on the server comp, correct me if im wrong...

totally wrong, win 2k3 is a vpn server, thats what all the RRAS etc is.

try this, client side

Click Start, point to Connect To, and then click your dial-up connection.
Click Properties, and then click the Options tab.
Click to clear the Include Windows logon domain check box (if it is selected), and then click OK.
then maybe--
in the Connect dialog box, click Properties.
Click the Security tab.
Under Security options, click Allow unsecured password in the Validate my identity as follows box, and then click OK.

I tried enabling every security protocol on both server and client side but it still wont work.

Is your server behind a router? If it is, you may need to enable VPN pass-through.

I enabled VPN passthrough but still it didnt work. Is it because I have only one network card?
