unformat hard drive?

hello

i kind of have a major problem, about 2 days ago my pc stopped working properly, so i decided to reinstall windows. Before doing this I put everything on th hard drive on to another hard drive (to transfer it back after the re-install) however, the hard drive with all th backed up stuff stopped working (told me it needed to be formatted) so i formatted it (using quick format) in the hope of being able to recover the files. Ive tried a few recovery file things, but they dont find anything ;(

is there anyway this is possible, by using a (preferably free) program or something, or is everythin lost and gone forever :( ?

cheers for any help
rhoders

Okay, first, make sure you have not written anything on it. Second, look at your Private messages.

The software is in there.

Re: unformat hard drive?

as long as you have not written anything on it like lhuser said, it is recoverable by recovery software. i think i know what he's talking about though.
