I will be getting a used comp soon, and i only wanted to use it for one thing which is gaming. there are other filse on it already which is why i want to know if when i use a WinXPSetup disk d/l from the internet, will i beable to format the hdd install this disk and register windows?

Yes, but that's pretty much illegal unless you have a legal CD key for it that you bought specifically for that PC. Ask whoever you're getting it from for the CD key they had for that computer previously.
