I was wondering if it's possible to make an USB of Ubuntu and able to boot off straight from the USB with the correct drivers/software installed. Or is it better to just install it on the HDD?
Thank You.

Probably better to install it on the HDD, though I'm not 100%.
I think there is a version of Linux that is USB bootable. Something like DS (damn small) Linux. I think....

There are tons of different linux distributions that can be run from a flash drive. Take a look at this.

As pointed out above you can run pretty much any linux OS from a flash drive. Some are easier to install / run on there because they're more designed for that purpose (knoppix, DSL, etc.) but if you're prepared for some hacking about you can get most up and running.

Cool, I'll try to attempt to do it when I have some free time. +rep.
I need to spread some before I can give you more cboucher.

but if you're prepared for some hacking about you can get most up and running.

You don't need to do any hacking to get linux onto a usb drive. There are a lot of programs that can be used. Two that I recommend are UNetbootin, and CD2USB. They work very well.

Cheers!
