The Office file cannot be saved

Hello, are there members who use Microsoft Office?
I was given a .docx format file to do a simple change. But Microsoft Word won't let me save to .docx.
After saving the file this error message occurred:
A file error has occurred.
Also
The Office filename.docx cannot be saved.
The version of office is Microsoft Office 2013.
Windows 8.1
Asus Laptop
Is anybody able to help with this please?

What's the complete error message? You provided 2 but never say when this errors happen.

Try File > Save As.. and rename the file.

If that fails, save as a regular .doc file. Close word, re-open file, put a space character anywhere and click save, it should ask you to upgrade the file to .docx
