Which linux should I install?

In my school they let me build my own computer and i did put win xp, but the machine is kind of slow (well when running ubuntu with gnome) its 2 ghz and 256 mb of ram, but anyhow i was thinking of putting ubuntu with fluxbox or Xfce, does anyone think if that would be fine for the machine?

I haven't had a chance to use fluxbox with ubuntu yet. However, I have heard good things about it. I did a google search and found some good information in it too. Here is a webpage from the Ubuntu wiki about it: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Fluxbox

In re guards to whether I think that it will work on you computer. I do believe that it will because it doesn't take up very much ram, and since you don't have much to spare it should be good for you.

DSL for the win. Compact (50MB), and has Fluxbox by default.
