iTunes troubles

My friend has 9000 songs on his macbook in iTunes, but half of them are duplicates. hiding the duplicates only hides about 5 songs, when it should hide about 4500. how do I go about deleting the duplicates? and no, i will not sit for half a day manually deleting them all.

Okay all I know about itunes is if you want to delete music you have your itunes on manual set up (it should say something like that). Right click on the song and delete it.
