I cant install Windows..

I tried reinstalling my copy of Windows XP Home edition and when my com restarts to stat the installation, an error msg appears saying

error. operating system not found

Anyone got this prob before?

Windows is horrible....that is why I mostly use linux....but yeah

Did you change your boot order in BIOS to boot from the cd-rom before the HD?

that or make sure your cd drive is recognized by the bios

Hmmm... best answer is to Reinstall; something went wrong in installation. Personally I recommend using Professional though, Home is a little bitty.

I know that Windows sucks, but my family needs Windows so i've got no choice. I set my BIOS boot order to boot from hard disk first but still got this prob. And paying ALOT for a sucky OS like XP Pro isnt really an option.

well the reason you got that message is that either your hhd is not set to master and/or the IDE cable is incorrect.

On the other hand, you will get that message too if the partiton on the hhd is not set to active.

when your installing Windows, you want to boot from your CD drive first anyways so that the Windows CD will be reconized. So why are you still booting from the HD? The HD is obviously not going to find an OS since its not isntalled.
