How to check network usage

Ok, I'm thoroughly confused right now. I have a little network meter widget/gadget thing (I'm on Win7 x64), and lately the network has seemed to be constantly active, even when I don't have anything open but Winamp (and I've made sure it's not updating or pulling artwork or anything). It's only moving by a small bit, but I'm a bit suspicious and would like to know what's using it. Is their any way to do this?

I don't think there's a free way to do it, that will actually show you what is using the network. The one way I can think of, is using your routers logs. Check to see what traffic is going in and out on whatever ports. This will give you an idea of what kinda traffic is using your internet. Example, if you see port 80 making a lot of send and receive requests, then you know that http traffic is hogging your bandwidth.

I will see if I can find anything else for ya, but might be a bit tough.

Cheers.

So there's nothing I could locally run on my machine, that would tell me what processes are accessing the network?

Also, I don't even know if my router can do that. It's some 2wire G router, Embarq gave it to us when we started with the dsl. It's.... okay I guess, but it's my parent's house so I haven't been able to upgrade it or anything.
