computer keeps asking to choosing OS

I have 2 harddrives. I attempted to install vista on the second one but had problems with it disconnecting my internet connection so i just reformatedthat drive. When i go to start with xp it keeps asking to choose which OS to use. It has vista listed but it no longer exists. Tried the boot.ini and going and manually editing the startup file under adavnced options in system . But nothing has worked and i continue to recieve a message to choose my operating system. please help.

Assuming you have a XP CD, boot off of it. At the first screen, type "r". Then once the command prompt like enviorment loads, type "fixmbr" then "fixboot". After that, you should be all set.

in recovery console i did both. but when i did fixboot it said something about drive e when i was working with drive c?

nvr mind i fixed it.
