My build log for my MTX 7515 (56K DEATH!!!)

The essense of it all
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...cture001-2.jpg

Lol, well; it worked...
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...cture003-4.jpg

Front and back + the rest of my wood. Mind you EVERYTHING I had was not straight. The first board to cut front and back was 15 6/8 x enough for 48'' total for front and back board, and then the smallest port board in the box. So then this still uncut long piece in the picture (also has no straight sides) was for the sides, and the top, bottome and other board for inside the port.

Re: My build log for my MTX 7515.

The not-so-square wood rears its ugly head - Funny fact: This is all 7layer plywood that is scrap from counter tops that were made in the new condo complex across the street from work... I nabbed it out of their scrap pile.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture035.jpg

Ah
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture038.jpg

Kinda startin to look like a box (port is cleaned up). its now about a half inch to big on the bottom and 1/4'' to big on the top, so to compensate I made it .75'' shorter.http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture039.jpg

Plenty of screws and silicone

Ah
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture046.jpg

Really looks like a box now
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture049.jpg

I tried to fix the oops's with the rotozip saw, and it worked well. It looks great under carpet

Finally about to look normal
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture051.jpg

While im doing this, its raining on my car!
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture052.jpg

Anyways back to box
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c9...Picture053.jpg

So what I did is put in for little tiny screws to hold the carpet, and then rolled the box around and put liquid nails all on one side, then stuck the fabric to it. So then I just will over lap the 4 screws that origionally just held the fabric on.

lol nice, i mean not the greatest craftsmanship (but hey, it's just a sub box right?). Once it's all covered in fabric you won't even notice the flaws. It'll be great to get some bass poundin in that pathfinder in the end. What are you using for an amp?

Ya its fun stuff. The only reason we have all those tools is because dad built the house with them, and they're left over.

Yeah, but like I said, in the thread on the car audio site, its just scrap coutertop wood. None of it was straight. So I did the best I could.

When I get the sub and know if I want to keep it or not, then I will make a nice box with a straight sheet bought from the store.

Check it out, they're haters, lol

Hmm... I was thinking of building a small sub (12 inch) for my room, just for music. What is a good amp? Or can I just use a stereo amplifier??

Also replace the tape player... lol

Re: My build log for my MTX 7515 (56K DEATH!!!)

Its easiest to just buy a cheap home theater set up. Ive seen nice Sony ones at Walmart for just over $100 dollars. Trust me for a home set up, that is money well spent rather then building your own home stereo setup.

As funny as it sounds, my stock sound system is enough for me. It isn't a bad system for being stock though.
