Warcraft itself more so, but WoW has set the bar for new MMO's.

Mega man - Games can be difficult
Final Fantasy - RPG mold
Counter Strike - PvP at its finest
Starcraft - Nothing needs to be said
Mario - platforming perfection
Doom - inspired many shooters
Grand Theft Auto - Rockstar tested the 'waters' on how much violence would work for a mainstream title.

Old School: (SNES)Final Fantasy II & III, Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana
(NES) Dragon Warrior Series (omg I loved them all) and Final Fantasy I

Less Old School: Final Fantasy VII for PS I

New: since I dont like any of the newer RPG's my vote is for Call of Duty 4 and 5....I waste sooooo much of my life playing those two games

Definitely Grand Theft auto 3, one of the first games to have 3rd person and gun violence, sex, drugs..etc.

Final fantasy for sure.
