Which Processor is the Best? - Home Processors, not Server Processors (not general Processors, or Home Use ones, just no the Ithium of Opteron etc).

A General Idea of which Processor could be chose:

AMD Athlon 64
Intel Pentium 4 HT
AMD Athlon XP
Via
Transmeta
Macintosh G5 (Single to make it fair, as you could double up any of the others - they just don't need to be)

Intel Pentium 4 aye? Why not the AMD 64, it is 64 Bit - a Billion Times most Numbers per second than a 32 Bit Processor even if there is a smaller Gigahertage

I agree with Lord Kalthorn on this one - its obvious that a 64 bit processor is way more powerful and better than a 32 bit, especialy since its made by AMD.

But Hyper threading allows for Symaltaneous floating point integer calculations and most progrmas will not be written to use the extra word lenght provided by 64 bit processors.

Maybe they wont be written for it, BUT, at least it gives the option for it to be done - thus enabling better programs.

But then there will be compatability issues; creating multiple versions of all software.
Upgrade your PC = replace all software to correct word lenght..

Yes, it might have compatibility probs ... but remember, unless Intel are incredibly stupid, they too will bring out the 64 Bit processor ... thus compatibility problems will increase ... what im sayin is that companies are gonna have to upgrade there software sometime .... wether they like it or not, just to stay in bussiness, because more and more people are gonna get the 64 Bit.
