Analyst: Sony to Lose 1 Billion on the Playstation 3

According to a report issued by Merrill Lynch of Japan, Sony could lose as much as $1.18 billion on the PlayStation 3 in the first year on the market, potentially selling the game console at almost a $100 loss per unit. The report claims the console is expected to sell for $399, each one costing Sony $491 to manufacture.

So... they wouldn't make any money. Change the price, simple as that. Good for us though, get an awesome unit for sorta cheap.

They can't afford to lower the price. They still have to gain money too. Do you know anything about marketing and businesses?

You ever consider the report may be a marketing ploy? People think they'er going to get a good deal when all along Sony makes the target profit and just keeps quiet about it. I've read about some things like this over the last 20 years. Turned out to be a trick to get people to buy things,,,

Teamxbox.com doesn't do things like that. If that report came from Merrill Lynch in Japan, then that's the way they got it. They don't edit any of it. Becides, it's just a prediction considering how much money and time Sony put into the PS3.

I didnt check into it much but a few browser checks didnt find anything..

one says that they cost 490$ and another 494$...neither one is credible because of this slight difference ...lol...jk...i wonder what will happen?
