Cracking down on the drama.

Ok, as of late, as most members will know, there has been quite a bit of useless posts, useless threads, and a lot of "drama" going on. So, we know that this will set a horrible example for anyone who wants to join here, should they go and actually see the Social Lounge/Guru Lounge. Here's a few suggestions on how to clear it all up.

1. Edit every single post that is deemed disrepectful. (I'll edit my own so don't worry.)

2. Lock every thread that is deemed disrepectful or that could potentially show a "bad" example of the forums.

3. Temp ban all members who have contributed in the "drama" epidemic.


With option 1, this is very time consuming. I don't advise this, although it is a good option.

With option 2, this is probably the easiest. As the Social/Guru Lounge gets a ton of new threads each day, the closed ones should easily fall to the bottom of the page or go onto the next page, where no one will see them.

With option 3, you basically get options 1 and 2 all in one package. As the members, including myself, who have participated in the "drama" fest, will be banned for a few days, it means those that have contributed can no longer post, or make threads, thus clearing up the bad stuff and making the Social/Guru Lounge a nicer place to visit.

All-in-all, somethign needs to be done about that place, it's getting out of hand...

I have to agree.

I find so much drama comes from a small situation. It's immature to see how many threads where made our of it. Just immature.

If this is how the community will act for now on, well, then I'll just leave. I'm sure other people agree with me that this is getting annoying. All this bickering, and flaming.

There are for sure other communities that can keep a mature atmosphere with out flaming, and I suggest you take a look at them, and how they handle these situations.

I've known administrators that will ban people for flaming and spamming once, even though they've been high posters. The Administrator has to no zero policy about this kind of stuff, and she expects his members to know them.

Heck she won't allow posting images and having signatures, and avatars if you have less than 100 posts.And no access to the social lounge if you have lest than 200 posts.

I want more people to post in the Processors Section. That's where knowledge is to be gained is in that area. But it gets so little attention.

The Social Lounge is the only "bad" part about the forum, that and the General hardware Software Area gets to many repeat threads. I don't know what this forum needs, but from what I can tell, it needs that Social Lounge to be dealt with, and punishments need to be handed out, even if I need a temp ban, it's all good, as it's all for the community.

Did I mention language? That's also a problem. Sad to say, even though people should know from their wits what and what not to use.

Back in the day, any time I used foul language, it was the stick or bat for me.

YA these mini flamewars, are not very apealling to the guests who stop by to check the place out...to be honest if this place would have been like this a when i joined...i wouldnt be here right now.

Sounds like a plan. If people can't behave, then CF can't thrive like it should.

So we all agree that somethign needs to be done? Well, this is a start! I think the first thing that should be done is to lock all the useless threads, well, not useless as all the threads in the Social/Guru Lounge are useless. Just lock the ones that truly have no purpose, other then to potentially start a flame war. We need to think of the people who want to join, we need more members then what we have now. We only have about 30 consecutive posters, and to me at least, that's way below where we should be.

The community needs a check-up. Temp ban those that need it, as well as lock up the threads that can/could start flame wars. It needs to be done. If you want help on finding them, I'll post links directly to them to help save on time.
