installing forum software

I'm trying to install phpBB, but every time I load it into my "forums" directory on my server(which I'm accessing through SmartFTP) I then type the location of the forums in my web browser to install it, but I get an error that says:
Error 404-Not Found
Your browser can't find the document corresponding to the URL you typed in.
I'm using IE7, I've had myBB running on this same server before too

hascet, there are many reasons why this is not working properly, id recomend using an easy to read guide and trying again.

One silly mistake many people make is that LINUX IS CASE SENSITIVE!, another is that php may not be enabled and that your webserver is incorrectly done
