Well, for programs themselves like M$word, IE, things like that just right click it and it says "Shotcut Key" ... put in a... key. lol

As for files, I don't know if it's possible unless you have a keyboard with those extra buttons on it. You can change those through the control panel.

Shortcut key for what? Within an application (in which case what one), a shortcut to a program (in which case see above), or something else entirely?

^^ You could also create and run a macro or similar, and set that to run as a shortcut.
