Hi all I am trying to sort out my girlfriends uni accommodation's internet. At the moment they only have wired internet and I am trying to install a router by copying the ip address etc as a static ip and cloning the mac address registered with the uni.

I am having a bit of trouble however as I cannot access the internet through the router when setup. I have asked on another forum for advice but no ones knows why it isn't working.

Below is a screenshot of the router setup page and below that i have copied the details from doing ipconfig on command prompt.

For reference the internet works fine when wired and the router is a Linkys WRT160N V2. Also the uni website states that for a computer to work on their network it must be able to accept DHCP, i don't know if that is affecting the router at all?

The computer does however when i set the router to do that it doesn't work and just comes up as 0.0.0.0

Also when we first set up the connection when windows connected it came up with a bubble saying that it required additional information which was her uni email and password so I dont know whether these need to be stored into the router and how to do that?

Still no joy. I must be missing something obvious. I still think that it should be static ip i just need someway of storing the login details aswell. Or it may still be pppoe but i dont know if there is supposed to be a domain or host name?

ok so ive done an ipconfig /all to get a bit more information. Anything here that might help?

Couple of things come to mind. One would be it's a dynamic IP. Set the router accordingly.
Other is they can see your router and are blocking it.

Try using a simple switch instead.
