Need need more range

I have a Linksys router (g), and a toshiba notebook with g intergrated. When I go to my room, or even in the kitchen, it's too far from the router. I went out and bought larger antennas, but that didn't to seem to help much. What would be my next step...access point? I'd don't won't to spend the money for one, so what other things besides an access point would help?

Is it around the center of the house? If it is not, try that.

high voltage wires in the walls, steel/metal in the walls, 2.4ghz cordless phones, microwaves, and even that damn christmas tree will give you connectivity problems. All you can do is try to relocate your router to a different location and test, test, test.
