my broadband company is not letting me on to sites that exist. when i try and load them it said opperation timmed out on 6 sites. We have NO internet safty thing on our broadband. I was on these sites yesterday then suddenly they failed! i am on tiscali broadband. i have mozilla firefox and that is the defult browser, i tryed to use internet explorer but the sites still dont work

have you tried pinging these sites via dos command? I doubt that your ISP is blocking the sites, but you never know. Its more likely that the sites are experiencing some difficulties ... offline for maintenance or something to that effect. Granted 6 sites at the same time ... its a coincedence you just cant be willing to ignore. :)

Are these site security related, like anti virus or spyware removal.

you might want to check your hosts file . There are viruses that will enter web sites like symantec.com and use your nics loop back address of 127.0.0.1

this what your hosts file should look like

# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

127.0.0.1 localhost
