has anyone sucessfully set up multiple LANs in Windows that get used at the same time?
lets say you are hosting a game server for your friends from you house (minecraft for those that want to know)
and you play as well
has anyone ever connected their desktop to the server via cross-over cable
so you will have one LAN for the internet and your home network
and then a direct connection to the server

Widows Vista HP 64-bit
i have 2 RJ-45 ports on the mobo
and lets say that the server does as well

I have once using the "internet sharing" feature that windows had. It was jankey and wasn't all that reliable.

Why can't you just run it through a router so the server only needs one card? Forwarding the ports needed on the router is a lot easier and much more dependable than trying to mess with what would essentially be two networks.

i do that now
i was just wondering if there was anyway to make things go faster
i get kicked every once and a while
i guess its the codeing and not a hardware issue.........
