modem diconnects itself every few minutes

my modem which is a westell model 7500 keeps disconecting itself from the internet ever couple of minutes and it has been doing so for some time now. after it disconects i then have to wait around 2 minutes and some times but rare wait around 30 minutes just to reastablish a connection to then lose it a couple minutes later. obviously this can be very frustrating and i dont know how to fix this, so if some one could please help me it would be welcomed with and open mind.

Errr, have you contacted your ISP about getting a replacement? Modems are issued through your ISP so talk to them about it.
