XP - Accessing Private Documents

Guys,

Here's the situation. I have an SATA hard drive, on which is installed windows XP. I have some important work in the 'My Documents' folder, which I desperately need to access, but because of some recent hardware faults (which has led to replacing the motherboard), I can't boot from this drive (the machine just crashes - even when trying from safe mode). A driver/chipset issue, perhaps - I don't know.

SO. I installed windows XP from scratch on a seperate IDE hard drive, naively believing that I could boot from this drive to access the work on the SATA drive. The SATA drive is visible under My Computer, and I can access most of its files, but to my dispair every time I try to access my work, I get the message 'access is denied'. Presumably this is because the 'My Documents' folder for this account was made private.

Is there any way around this? I'm really at my wits end.

Thanks for any help.

Tom

Well, why dont you boot in safe mode now and then try to access it..

Ahhh, you mean windows wont evan load because of the motherboard..you need to repair the installation if so...not the recovery console though
