windows event log stopped working

when i login window vista 32bit and i kept having this error message:

windows event log has stopped working

and this made my sounds stop working as well

Uh oh. That's not good. Have you run a virus scan recently? Particularly since this started happening? And new strange off the internet software from a strange site? It sorta sounds like a virus to me.

Windows even log is important for diagnosing computer problems and if it's crashing, a virus wouldn't let you see what crashing it therefor making it seem invisible and making it just look like any other computer problem. Only now it can't be diagnosed.

I have the same problem for few weeks now.
After it happens the sound card is not working for ~30 seconds, and then all back to normal.
I saw another forum with the same problem, but nobody gave an answer there.
This is definitely not a virus.
I'm using vista 32, dell e6400.
