Will 2gb of RAM have any positve effects as of now?

I have a gig of dual channel corsiar RAM. I was thinking about buying another set to get 2 gigs. Will there actually be a difference in gaming becaquse of the upgrade?

you will not seen any better performance with game on the market right now but in the future you will need that 2gigs but for now you can use 1gig just fine.

2 gigs is a little over board. games it won't help much, only for loading times but as Osak said it won't be needed for any games now or for awhile.

2gigs will help in graphics design, certain games like HL2 and BF2, and the newer games that care coming out. What people neglect to understand is that the more RAM you have, the smaller the page file in Windows needs to be, which means the more physical memory programs have to use, which means the faster things move along and work. Programs use more RAM when there is more available. 2GBs is awesome if you have the money. HOWEVER, the RAM you have currently is not good RAM. If you are going to get 2GBs, get GOOD RAM. Otherwise you are throwing your money away. Also, split it up (aka 4x512MBs) if u can, it allows for a spread spectrum and decreases load times exponentially.
