So i just got a 8800 GTS, and I have a 22" widscreen dell. And to be able to run my comp at 1680x1050 i had to get a DVI cable.. And I really cant tell that big of a diff.

What exactly does DVI cables do and where would i be able to see teh diff between the two?

Thanks

DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface.
Basically, since your video cards digital, it goes through the wire as a digital signal with a DVI lead, and since LCD monitors are also digital, it can go straight through as a clean digital 010010101 signal, etc.

VGA cables on the other hand convert from one to the other. It goes from digital to analogue, through the cable, and then back to digital for the monitor to understand it.

This results supposedly in slight quality loss, compared to a full digital only signal.

I have a monitor that only has one VGA cable, and it is non-removable. Is there some sort of converter that I can plug onto the VGA so that it plugs into the DVI port on my new computer?

... and no, I do not want to use a chainsaw...
