what is Quantum computer?

I read the Wikipedia article and i really didnt understand it verry much

changing from 1's and 0's to more complex ways of computing... something that works at the atomic level, which is extremely fast, and would not be slowed down by materials or temperatures... Basically, like a regular computer, but using a different method than the on/off switches of today's binary computers. Theoretical mostly, since you can't really build a quantum computer until you take out all other elements that might "corrupt" the system.. light and heat could potentially corrupt the system... I dunno, im no freakin rocket scientist
