Used harddrive space?

Well, i just checked my harddrive and it said that 62.6GB of it is used, now, i added up ALL the files/folders in my system, INCLUDING WINDOWS FOLDERS, and came to a total of, 40.4GB, now, how is this possible? and what can i do to get the space back?

ok first thing you will never be able to add up all of your system files to the correct size because there are hundreds probably thousands of files that are hiddden even when you untick 'hide system files' you will never be able to see or view all of the files on your hardrive the only way you will ever get bakc the space is by deleting the files you can see. but only ones u know are safe to delete.

Try JDiskReport, its a utility that shows where all your space has gone. Available from www.jgoodies.com
