My first Intel processor, Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme HSF and Sharkoon 1000 fan.

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard.

BeQuiet 650W PSU.

Also got an LG DVD writer, 3GB RAM and 500G Samsung HD502HJ Spinpoint F3 hard drive. Just to make it up to £666!

My first Intel platform so it will be interesting to work with and compared to my Athlon 64 3000+ set up it should be much faster.

should be? lol

it will rape it.

nice ram ;)

Yea I know. I wanted better RAM but it'll be plenty to start of with.

Built up the motherboard and it's components.

The Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme HSF it huge! A little fiddly to install...

Also watch out for RAM space with this HSF. Three RAM sticks in this case was ok. Using six might be a struggle with larger HSF's.

Going to slot it in later.

You can raise the fan on the cooler to allow the memory to fit underneath, if the clips won't hold the fan in the raised position use cable ties.

Nice gear you've got there

Thanks for the pointer. Something i'll look into when I install more RAM.
