Hello guys..I have been thinking for a long time wether i should build a new pc or just buy a new processor. Since i got no clue about each of them( processors and building pcs ) i wanna ask you guys if i need to build a new pc or just stick with the one i got?

PC Specs :

Windows XP Pro Sp3

Intel Pentium 4 3.00 Ghz

2Mb Ram

nvidia geforce 8800 GT 512MB

I think you should just get a new processor, your pc will be alot faster, your video card is pretty good...
 
Aha Ok. Thing is im Sure these new processors got some requirements and im not sure my pc can handle that.. Are there any processor u could recommend that can run on my pC ? And thank you for the fast reply! =D
 
Like what? Its about 3 years old ( I think :S )

Btw will i able to play games like Farcry 2 if i buy a new processor?

You might want to upgrade your RAM if you only got 2"MB" of it, lol.

Jokes aside, I'm guessing the max FSB for your mobo is 800MHz, so this processor is about the best you can really go. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115045
If your mobo has a better FSB, then you can go with a better processor. I don't really know what the increase would be in performance, but if I was you, I'd invest in a new mobo and processor at least to get something better.
