uncapping?

hey, im not exactly sure on the "legality" on it or anything, but i was wondering how one might go about uncapping a modem? like the process, or how it happens. Is it a hard or soft mod?

Its illegal. You will loose your internet this way. Dont try it. And it wont work. Your ISP will find out sooner or later and you will charged heavy fines for breaking the law. It also says in the End User Agreement that you signed to not tamper with it.

what exactly does "uncapping your modem" mean?

If your specific plan with your ISP is to have 3mbps, your modem is capped at 3mbps, uncap it, and it's not limited to 3mbps anymore. Kind of like a governor on an ATV
