I have to slots for RAM In the first I have 256 and in the second i am planning on putting 512. Can you have 768 Mb of RAM? I have never heard of it before.

make sure that you have the correct modules of the RAM to work with your motherboard, see motherboard book !

not just tht make sure they arent diffrent like pc3200, pc 2100, you will have something saying memory dum

RAM does work better when you have identical sticks, but this should still work..

Umm, depends on the type of RAM. If it is DDR or SDRAM, sure, go for it. If it is RDRAM (Rambus), then absolutely not! Rambus ram requires matched pairs of identical RAM, and completely matching speeds, bit lengths, etc. If you have Rambus, please tell me now, so I can show you what to get, otherwise, just tell me what type you have and I will find it so fast, your head will spin.
