thinking of changing vid cards suggestions please

how big of a jump is this and how is ati always used nvidia

current setup
p4 478 socket 3.0gh ht 1m cache 800 fsb
abit ic7-g max2 motherboard 865chipset
2mgs pc 3200 samsung 4x512kb copper heatisnks running dual channel
80 gig and 250 gig hds not in raid(not sure how to set up)
3.5 floppy
toshiba dvd-rw 16x dual layer
19 inch lcd 8ms
current card bfg 6600gt 126mb factory oc 525/1000

just any input or opions from others who have either or had both style cards

Its quite a big jump in terms of performance, and you'll be able to play many more games at high settings for alot longer. Plus its got 256mb onboard, so texture cacheing won't be a problem, so texture settings should also be able to be set to high.
With 128mb on your current card, its starting to not suffice, if you want to play everything on full.

As for ATi, they are okay. I've not used the latest Nivida drivers since I've got ATi's, but in terms of features, they are probably about the same, so setting them up shouldn't be that different.

For about the same price as a aiw x800xt you could get a 6800GT which is a very good card. But if you want all the extra features the x800xt has then that card will do well in most games.
