Thinking about turning my desktop into a Linux Box....

However I wanna know before hand if my external HDD will work for both my Windows Laptop and Linux Desktop. It's simply a data HDD. It has a few gigs of music and all my other important files such as Word documents and what not.

Can both computers access this (at different times of course, or hey, how about same time!?!?) and use the files?

It depends what Linux distro you want to use. Find that out, and get back to us

Well I'm probably gonna be experimenting with different distros until I find something I want to stay with.
I only have experience in Mandrake 10.0+ but maybe something less filling. That seems to have everything installed on it right away and I think I want something empty that I add only what I want to use. Ya know?
