Could anyone tell me what i would need to be able to record a video from my tv and then put it onto my pc (apart from a T.V and a video)?

you need a TV tuner card that can record, then hook up cable to it

You can get WinTV Recorder Versions with Hard Drives in them to record the TV - from there you could save it to normal Hard Drive or burn to DVD.

WinTV's with Harddrive? Um, no, they just record to your computer's HD...

Now there are some that have onboard compressors

Ah, I was sure they had little Hard Drives Last time I looked was when I brought mine though - 4 years ago.

But yeah - you can still do damn good things with them and record at 2Megs/second if you don't have much Hard Drive.

I'd say the best solution, is to get an ATI AIW video card which has a TV In/OUT as well as adapters to connect different media devices like a VCR, CAM, DVD.
You would have Pinnacle software with it, but Adobe Premiere is about what is best for video editing.
