i'm planning on starting a build in the next couple months and am looking at a 6800GS (stock overclocked) video card. the rig will be mainly for games and i want to make sure it runs everything beautifully. i was wondering if the 6800 will be enough or if i should get 2? also, using the 7800GTX what sort f graphics am i getting with 1 6800GS or with 2 6800GS'? Thanx.

ok well, if u say u can get 2 6800gs's that would mean u have quite a bit of money for ur graphics. if this is the case i would put all the money into one very good graphics card. eg 7800gtx or 7900gtx.

and if also doing it in a few months, the 7900 series are going to drop in price dramatically. at the mo they are very pricey!!

therefore if youve got an sli board, u have a very good future upgrade option in a few years time!

actually i do not have that much money i was just asking for the info in the future. but i have a more specific question: between a 7600GT and a 6800GS the 7600 has much higher cpu and memory clocks but is only 128 bit compared to the 6800's 256 bit memory interface. am i right in saying that i should go by the clock speed more than anything else?

yeh the 7600gt has very good speeds, go for that if u have the money. but both are very good for the money!

i found the 7600gt for $189 and the 6800gs for $199 at newegg. i'm always iffy when the better product costs less.

The 7600gt IS better than the 6800GS. So if thats the queston, get the 7600gt. But i would say a 7800gt. I will perform better than 2 6800GSs in SLI.
