As you could probably tell by the title of this thread I wanted to know if I should get a sound card. Main reason why I was asking is because I listen to tons of music and wondered how much better quality of sound is it?

Depending on your motherboard you probably have HD sound already but I think a good sound card will be an improvement over it.

Onboard audio is fine. Only reason you need a sound card is if you want to hook up more speakers. Most mobos support a minimum of 5.1. Your chosen board supports 8channel audio so you should be fine with onboard sound

agree.
I have that very same board, and the sound is great.

IF you want to improve the sound, mess around with the equalizer.

My answer is: if you're a tone enthusiast with hypercritical ears like I am, you'll need a dedicated sound card!

I've tried many on-board HD sound audio devices and non of them is even close to my older Soundblaster X-Fi specially in bass management!

Soundblaster cards redirect bass very well!

If you're not looking for good bass redirection and advanced post processing, stick with on-board audio!
