sata/raid and ide

hi, just upgraded my comp with a gigabyte 915p duo, asus 6600gt, 200gig sata drive.

just wondering if its possible to still run my old 40gig hdd and 20gig off the ide's? there are 3 sets of ide slots on the board, 1 im using for the dvd rom and burner, 2 unused.

thing is when i plus em into the ide, it doesnt detect

im told i need to turn off raid in the bios but cant find it anywhere.

also, if i plug in both ide's the raid program tries to set them up as a raid, and the sata is not detected.

its ok if i cant run all 3, but is it possible to run at least the sata and 1 other ide drive?

any help at all would be greatly appreciated

On my work PC I run 2 IDEs and 2 SATAs. So I guess you can too. What drive is your OS on? Are you doing a new windows install? If so, try un-plugging all the drives except the one you want windows on (make sure that it's on in BIOS) set up windows and add the drives one at a time. Thats how I did it at work and it worked great.

im running winxp. just finishing doing most of the updates.

winxp is installed on the 200gig sata. ill try plugging the other drive in 1 at a time and see if theres and success.
