Is it safe to open up a ceiling fan?

easy way to fix a fan is roll up a tube sock in a ball and throw it at it while its spinning fixed all my problems

There really aren't any capacitors or anything that would hold charge in it, to the best of my knowledge. So provided it is disconnected from electricity, it should be fine.

It's perfectly safe to open up a ceiling fan as long as it's completely disconnected from the power.

You'll need to turn off the breaker that powers the fan. Disconnect the fan, then open it up.

If the motor won't spin, don't bother. The coil might have been fried.

ignore the first 3 posts. Yes it is. Just turn it off. I've installed a couple myself.
