When I reformat using an OEM version of Windows XP, is there a limit to the amount of times I can re-activate and is there a limit to the amount of times a reformat can be completed on a hard disk drive?

i dont believe the re-activation matters as long as u have the same hard ware. ive already activated my current windows xp OEM like 3 times.

even if you use it on a different computer, just use the phone method of activating and you can do ti as much as you want.

I use the online method though, for the last time I reformatted, but I read somewhere that it only could be done five times on OEM. By the way, what is the phone number, for the US/Canada?

when you activate it it will give you the option to do it over the phone, and then it will give you the number.

whats the piracy number?

well, anyways, the activation window should look like this:

click on the option in the middle

then ther window should look like this:

i never known theres a limit on the windows xp cd.
weird.
so u cant keep on reformating the hdd ?
the win xp cd will stop working after 5 activations ?

Yeah, I won't have to worry about that for a while yet anyway, but I was curious on how many times it can be reactivated...

Edit: Faith, I really don't know. That's why i was asking, i just heard that somewhere
