well the processer does as it says....it processes all the programs that you have running, so if oyu want to do more multi-tasking, you need to get a good ghz processer, as for memory, or "ram", the higher the better for gaming, but for the average person, you only need 256-512 ram, but if you want to get it for gaming, i would say get 1gb of ram......so it depends on what you want to do, but really there equally important

CPU stands for Central Proccessing Unit. It carries out the calculations and "thinking" operations of the computer. Think of it as the Brain.
Memory, like main memory, here were talking about RAM - Random Access Memory. Think of this as the work desk for the computer. Any application or data that is currently being used by the computer is stored in main memory. This is not to get confused with storage memory such as the harddrive.
Strickly speaking, the CPU is the most important. Mainly because in very very old machines, you could run the PC without any RAM (Extended Memory). The Operating System was small enough to run in the memory of the CPU itself (cache) but realisticly, you wouldn't be able to do much. Nowadays memory is essetial. A modern computer won't even pass the POST (Power On Self Test) during bootup without any memory being istalled. Same goes with the CPU. There both, realistically, as important as each other.
