or any other things that can easily be upgraded to speed up the laptop which are not expensive

Compatible with what? You have to provide your laptop type so we can check.

You have to have a 64 bit OS in order for it to use 8 GB.

It seems like it from the little info I can find online. Where are you buying it from?

What version of Windows do you have? You can find out easy in Win7 by right-clicking on My Computer and going to properties.

XP is a little harder.

Several Factors Define RAM Support;
- Motherboard specification, some Mobo's only support 4Gb or 8Gb's (Newer Support 32Gb)
- CPU Specification, Some only support 4Gb or 8Gb's (Newer Support 32Gb)
- OS 32Bit or 64Bit, 32Bit supports up to 4Gbs, but it only uses a max of 3Gbs
..................64Bit supports up to 108Gbs (or something like that)

These are the thing you need to find before purchasing RAM (Also check Frequency)
You OS (Bit-ige) should be able to be found in Control Panel.

yeh checked it, it is a 64 bit operating system

i bought it about 7 months ago for £600 so should be good ( i am guessing)

hey, kmy touchpad isnt working properly.

it works most of the the time but on occasions it will not move the curser. it is multi touch so instead when i try moving it, it zooms in and out on the screen instead.

it works a good 90% of the time.
is there a simple fix or is it just better to send it back to be checked out as it is still under warranty
